Popular
arts news magazine, Metro Times said that the Padzieski Art Gallery is the
type of place you might not readily associate with Dearborn. This might have
something to do with a certain automaker ...but Dearborn is steadily becoming a
place where you can find compelling cultural events; the Padzieski Art Gallery
best represents this. Though small in space, the art presented IS usually larger
than life. From digital art to Arab-American art to community art, the gallery
offers an alternative to the mainstream.
The
DCAC made a commitment to the original City Gallery in 1989 and through a
partnership with the city was able to establish the city's first public gallery
on the fourth floor of the City Hall. It has proven to be an excellent way to
ensure ongoing visibility for the DCAC while providing a venue for local and
regional artists, and
The
Dearborn Community Arts Council will continue that commitment to local and regional
artists with our move to the Ford
Community & Performing Arts Center and the Padzieski Art
Gallery, proudly hosting statewide exhibits (e.g. the annual juried photography
competition) as well as traveling exhibitions (Dolls of Japan) and several
multi-state exhibits (in conjunction with Michigan Glass Month). The Padzieski
Art Gallery continues the Community Outreach Programs developed over To volunteer as a docent, please contact Janis Bazian, Evening Gallery Manager, by email at jmoreno@ci.dearborn.mi.us or by phone at 313-943-3095. |
